The Sextant ✡
{Formula}
Angle of incidence = angle of deflection!
Before the sextant was invented there was the astrolabe instrument.

The [frame] of a sextant is in the shape of a [sector] which is approximately 1⁄6 of a circle (60°), hence its name (sextāns, sextantis is the Latin word for "one sixth").
Both smaller and larger instruments are (or were) in use: the octant, quintant (or pentant) and the (doubly #reflecting) quadrant span [sectors] of approximately 1⁄8 of a circle (45°), 1⁄5 of a circle (72°) and 1⁄4 of a circle (90°), respectively. All of these instruments may be termed "sextants".
A sextant is a doubly #reflecting navigation instrument that measures the angular distance B/#tween two visible {objects}. The primary use of a sextant is to measure the angle B/#tween an astronomical {object} and the horizon for the purposes of celestial navigation.
The estimation of this angle, the altitude, is known as sighting or shooting the {object}, or taking a sight.
The angle, and the time when it was measured, can be used to calculate a position line on a nautical or aeronautical [chart]. For example, sighting the Sun at noon or Polaris at night (In the Northern Hemisphere)
to estimate latitude (With sight reduction).
Sighting the height of a landmark can give a measure of distance off and, held horizontally, a sextant can measure angles B/#tween {objects} for a position on a [chart]. A sextant can also be used to measure the lunar %distance% B/#tween the moon and another celestial {object} (such as a star or planet) in order to determine Greenwich Mean Time [G:M:T] and hence longitude.
The Devil's eye: The so called established science relies on physical evidence in terms of #visual testimony.
Holistic approach: Micro cosmos = Makro cosmos.

A true horizon vs. visible horizon

The true horizon is circle defined by the line of sight from an observation point that is a tangent line to a sphere. The visible horizon is the actual local line dividing Earth features and sky.

The famous 1,000-yard stare (snipers can aim at 1,000 to max. 1,200 yards) I got as soon I stepped out of the bus being a deployed soldier and were told to look out for snipers on a cigarette break. Whilst %distance% has no matter in the invisible [realm], I never-ever got short-sighted A/#gain. It looks like a curse of the elements, in this case air. It only gets worse by watching TV all day long with far A/way movies. Now, all I do is to drink and smoke and sit indoor all day long. Ironically, I go half-blind, while all the eyes need to stay fit is the element of air. A gift and a curse at the same time.
